look. I know this is my art blog, I know I had nothing to do with this movie. But the pure fact that the book that this movie is based on was the main thing as a child that made me want to be an artist compels me to post it. "Where The Wild Things Are" is my favorite book and Maurice Sendak is my all time hero. I'm so excited for this movie. So excited. I'm also going to cry upon seeing it on the big screen............so excited.
But yeah. I'll post some art soon to make up for this not being my art but my inspiration.

About to go meet Barron Storey....Ieeeeeee.
My dad sent me this morning! He was at the mall helping with getting everything situated. His landscaping looks amazing, its nice that my father and I ended up getting to do something together artistically. So theres my design in the Valley Plaza Mall, my former haunt when I lived at home. I remember being so excited as a kid to get my picture taken with the easter bunny. Now I helped in the process...funny how everything comes full circle...

I know I've posted alot today but this I'm really excited about. My dad had me design a scrim from the mall in my hometown of bakersfield,ca. He was doing the landscaping for the easter set up where kids take pictures in front of with the easter bunny. After some revisions this is the idea that I came up with. The mall heads LOVED it. They are also going to talk to their boss and might want me to do a christmas version. I'm so excited. Every kid that gets a picture with the easter bunny will have my image in the background.....I didn't get paid for it but I don't care its going to be awesome to put this sort of thing in my portfolio and on a resume. It's experience in illustration and I'm so happy my dad asked me in a pinch to do something for him that was illustration driven. This will be seen by the masses in the mall! God......I'm all smiles. Thanks dad:)
This was a lot of fun to color. The bunny is Bunny Dee. My little alter-ego that was developed when my parents and bro started calling me bunny dee. She loves color and wants to spread it everywhere. She also likes mountains, oceans, spirals and pattern. Also Alan Rickman and Pineapple. Those are not pictured here however. She also wants hugs. Can't you tell?

I did the colored version of the drawing while listening to Fever Ray "when I grow up" awesome song totally check it out. Its the girl from the band the knife.
I get to meet Barron Storey on monday. My uncle set it up, its so awesome of him to do that, hes friends with his wife(they use to work together at pacific cafe on geary). Needless to say I'm nervous as hell, this is a guy that several teachers at the academy have brought up as a revolutionary.....and he wants to look at my portfolio and sketchbook....YEAH NERVOUS DEE. I feel like this fever ray song that I mentioned above..when I grow up..theres so much I want to do I feel its frightening that I'm hanging on the cliff now of adulthood...school is almost over all 4 and a half years of it. Moving to New York City. I'm glad that my life turned out the way it did, I'm glad that I couldn't get a dorm room at san jose state upon graduating highschool. I was going to study history there even though I really wanted to do art....I'm glad a certain person broke my heart two years ago because I wouldn't of found the artistic style I now have without that pain.
Life hands you alot of experiences in life and the trick is deciding what you want to get from it.
Thanks life for giving me what I have. I <3>
