Keep Calm

I need to take pictures soon of my new room in my apartment. I'm really enjoying where
I'm at. Today I made my 15th sale. I know its not a huge amount but I'm completely grateful for each sale that I make on etsy. Plus I also love odd numbers. I have also been featured in an interview on the Creative Moxie Blog if you'd like to check it out.

I recently saw two movies in one week.
"True Grit"
and
"Tron: Legacy"
Both I loved. Both are totally different. I'm a sci fi geek girl at heart and tron really grabbed me with the visuals. The music which is supplied by Daft Punk was A-MAZING. Tru Grit is also spectacular. Better acting of course and I can't help but fall for almost every Cohen brothers film I see.
Anyway check those movies out if you get a chance. I'm almost tempted to do a tron inspired print but I haven't a clue how that would go over hehe.
I wish everyone a happy and healthy New Years.
I think one of my new years resolutions will be:Write down more dreams. Start taking pilates again or adult ballet classes..
what will yours be?

Sedona random

There are quite a few new images for sale on my etsy site. This is one of them. Sedona. One of the most beautiful trips I have taken with my family was going to the grand canyon in winter time. Before we got to the grand canyon though we visited Sedona. The colors of the stone were so beautiful I was just blown away. The teal of the sky matched with the salmon orange of the surrounding stone..I really can't wait to go back there.
I can't stop listening to Nick Caves "O Children" which was in the new harry potter movie. I get to go have dinner with my wonderful friend Tanith tomorrow and you should all check out her blog. Shes linked on my side bar and she has some amazing art!
Im pretty sleepy now. I've been slowly getting over a cold and the insanity of the christmas season at the bookstore has been a bit overwhelming. I want to go see HP and the deathly hallows again. I've been reading a lot of Jon Krakauer. <3
Sleepy time now. This post is so rambling...

Ride on Fall

I have been so M.I.A. lately. Mostly dealing with the fact that I had to move. I am now in a new place(been here for a little over a week) and I feel really great. Art ideas are flowing to me more readily. I'm closer to my work(the bookstore!)and my roommates are great. They own two cats and I love them. One of my roommates and I might go out to get a christmas tree today. Its just great. Its been crazy this last year and a half or so. I've moved 4 times in less then 2 years. NYC to the tenderloin sf. Tenderloin to outer richmond. Outer richmond to inner richmond...phew. I attended the Academy of Sciences Nightlife last night. Tomorrow is a friends birthday party and sunday is a another friends birthday party! Insanity. This really is more social then I've ever been. I'm also heading home to bakersfield on tuesday since I wont be seeing anyone on xmas from my family. Planning on baking christmas cookies with my mom which makes me so happy. Really I can't say this enough, this month has started out beautiful. Ill be back to more posting and sorry for being gone but moving is quite the ordeal.

Above is one of my recent drawings and my most recent etsy addition to my etsy store. I'm happy to say that I made my first international sale today all the way to portugal! I want to thank everyone again who has supported me in this pursuit. I don't know where I would be without my friends and family right now. <3

a plethera of things

I've been feeling pretty under the weather lately but these bunnies brought me out of the gloom for a bit. I'm working on a variety of these for a print. See how it turns out. I'm going to be going home next week to see my family. I can't wait to see my mom and dad and my brother. We are all going to drive to Cambria for dinner and spend the night. My mom always plans such lovely things. I hope to take a walk on the beach, collect shells for my shell collection and enjoy being out of the hubbub of the city for a few days.

I will also get to see my cat. Which I know it sounds silly but I get so excited to see her when I'm home. I have a variety of nicknames for her: stell bell, stella bella, little face, and princess to name a few..I'd love to have my own cat one day and name it Luna. After Luna Lovegood of course.

Speaking of HP I happened to make a friend Via etsy named Steph Cortes. Shes also a Alan Rickman fan(which I loves) and she has a adorable blog. She makes geek-tacular stuff and its a must to check out!
go visit her blog called nerd JERK.

nerd JERK!Check out her blog!
her stuff reminds me how much I use to love old school video games. Now I miss playing them so much! Shes also a sweetie-pie.

Bear and Bunny

Hi everyone. Its only been a couple days but I wanted to post my new image which was inspired by my brother. His nickname is Brother Bear. His sister bunny is giving him a heart.

I've been trying to do as much drawing as I can a day. I have to leave for work in about 30 minutes and still need to get ready to go...I'm watching galaxy quest. Ah Alan Rickman how I love thee. Now to get to work.

Color Keys

Today has been a long day for some reason. Perhaps its the rain that makes me feel sluggish and want nothing more then something warm to drink and to stay in my room. I've been listening to Rachmaninoff most of the day and its been rather inspiring. I find that classical is wonderful for me to draw to. I created this piece above today because I wanted to paint a rainbow of colors and listening to a piano being played made me want to incorporate keys. A typewriter was the first thing that jumped to mind. I searched for reference of one and found a beautiful royal typerwriter from the 60's to base this design off of.

I have an urge to re-watch "In the Realms of the Unreal" again. Henry Darger is such an odd inspiration. That man did amazing things with color.

My feet are freezing. I want a peppermint hot chocolate..

Traveling bunny

I thought I would post a photo of part of my room. Its pretty obvious what colors inspire me. I have been obsessed with travel since I was little. I planted flowers in my parents front yard just to earn the money to buy a suitcase that had a map of the globe on it. I wish I had saved that suitcase. I have a collection of maps that I have gotten at various places, and I am very particular about the colors I want on my maps. The one above my bed is from the 70's. I also have a map from the 80's of Australia(which is a place I'm dying to visit one day)and a 1930's map from national geographic of the world. I own two globes and want to collect more. One I was actually lucky enough to get while walking home from work one night on the street for free! The lamp beside my bed is great grandmothers. I have necklaces my mom has given me draped over it. There are various prints on the wall by other artists that I fancy and of course Klimts the kiss behind my bookshelf.

Here is also a photo of me at the Griffith Observatory when I was there with my family during my visit. I love space. I love the stars. To me its the dream world. I'm a dork. I almost cried in the planetarium show.
